On 15 September 2026, more than 170 guests attended THE ROADSHOW: INK BEYOND COLOR Seminar, hosted by Khang Viet – Dy Khang (KVI – DYN) at Hotel Continental Saigon. Under the theme “Co-creating a Circular Packaging Ecosystem”, the seminar brought together businesses, experts and partners to explore the role of printing inks, materials and technology in advancing sustainable packaging.

The Role of Printing Inks in Circular Packaging
In the opening remarks, Khang Viet’s representative highlighted three priorities for the future of printing inks: Performance, Safety and Sustainability.
This message reflected the central theme of INK BEYOND COLOR. Alongside colour, brand identity and product information, printing inks need to be considered throughout the packaging life cycle, including their compatibility with packaging structures and recycling processes after use.
For KVI – DYN, developing printing ink solutions requires collaboration among raw material suppliers, printers and packaging converters, brand owners and stakeholders in the recycling system.

From Packaging Trends to Practical Solutions
With contributions from VINPAS, a Unilever representative, Evonik, COIM – Hoa Thinh and BOBST, the programme connected market needs with developments in materials and manufacturing technology.
The Vietnam Packaging Association (VINPAS) presented trends in food and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) packaging, focusing on material reduction, mono-material structures, post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, reuse and traceability. The presentation emphasised the importance of aligning packaging design with compliance requirements and local recycling infrastructure.

A Unilever representative, sharing insights from the Magnum ice cream brand, discussed brand expectations around recyclability, food safety, carbon reduction and supply chain transparency. This perspective placed printing ink solutions within the broader context of packaging performance throughout its life cycle.

Evonik introduced solutions that support de-inking during recycling, alongside co-binders for developing PVC- and nitrocellulose (NC)-free ink systems. The presentation highlighted how ink components can influence the quality of recycled materials.

The COIM – Hoa Thinh presentation introduced next-generation solvent-free laminating adhesives designed to optimise costs, improve operational efficiency and extend applications to packaging structures with demanding technical requirements.

BOBST shared technologies for mono-material PE packaging and high-barrier paper packaging, together with digitalisation and automation solutions for printing and lamination aimed at reducing waste and improving production efficiency.

These perspectives highlighted the importance of selecting compatible substrates, printing inks, laminating adhesives and processing technologies when developing packaging for circularity.
New Printing Ink and Functional Coating Solutions from KVI – DYN
At the seminar, KVI introduced ink and functional coating solutions for a range of applications:
- Q-GRENMAK POPx: solvent-based laminating inks formulated without NC, PVC, toluene or MEK.
- Q-ENVIMAK OPPx LQ/LA-CF: chlorine-free functional coatings used in combination with Q-GRENMAK POPx inks for PP extrusion-laminated packaging.
- Aqua Color: water-based ink ranges for flexographic and gravure printing on suitable film substrates.
- MEKONGBIO: vegetable oil-based offset inks formulated without mineral oil.
These solutions reflect KVI – DYN’s approach to product development, aligning ink formulations with substrate characteristics, production technologies and the requirements of each packaging application.

Continuing the Dialogue and Building Partnerships
The panel discussion and networking activities provided further opportunities for speakers, customers and partners to exchange perspectives, understand one another’s needs and discuss approaches to sustainable packaging.

Khang Viet – Dy Khang sincerely thanks VINPAS, all speakers, supporting organisations, customers and partners for taking the time to attend, share their insights and contribute to the success of INK BEYOND COLOR.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration across the value chain, developing printing ink solutions that address performance, safety and sustainability as we work towards a circular packaging ecosystem.
